About Us

Cafe Bohemio was conceived in 2002 by Chris May and Solomon Rose. The duo previously lived in San Francisco CA and were both involved in Education, the Arts and owned a Bed and Breakfast. Chris is also an accomplished violinist and Sol is  a seasoned  professional singer and  actor and has performed all over the world. Having a Bed and Breakfast didn't satisfy their passion for cooking and the culinary arts and they decided to open up a bar/bistro...but where?  After vacationing in Puerto Vallarta in 2001 they fell in love with the "Bay of Banderas" and it's unique beauty and culture. They loved the  numerous cuisines the bay had to offer but felt they could add to the scene by having a patio-bistro-bar that was outdoors, original and affordable. They found this lovely spot a block from the beach in the old town of Olas Altas affectionately known as the " Zona Romantica."  They had read in one of the local newspapers that no one had opened a cafe in the lovely bohemian courtyard next to the San Marino Hotel. Hence came the name Cafe Bohemio...casual, with a cantina like feel and quaint  tables adorned with candles. The cafe is totally outdoors with a hugh mango tree that encircles the rustic courtyard. There is an awning for the rainy season. With a little fluff and alot of  love and determination it wasn't long before Cafe Bohemio became one  of the "hot spots" in the old town and they have been a popular fixture there for more than 9 years. They are constantly trying out new and exciting recipes, libations and the bistro atmosphere  is always festive, full of cheer and you can find Chris and Sol there most nights entertaining their clients in there 20 table cafe. The owners  are also very involved in the performing arts scene in PV and can often be found performing in some venue around town. Their dinner  menu is extensive and varied and most items are under $13 dollars USD. They are always scouting the freshest ingredients to put in their  food items and  specials. They have had the same local staff for over 10 years and the moment you step into their small but cozy enclave you  feel the warmth and excitement that the staff and Cafe Bohemio conveys. They are blessed to have a loyal following that come back to dine with them season after season. In the summer months Sol and Chris can often be found in their other hometown of Palm Springs California with his  Mexican rescue dogs but they plan to spend more time at their home in PV. If you haven't been to Cafe Bohemio you are missing a Puerto Vallarta Landmark!
